ABOUT THE EXHIBITION 

ART OF UNITY 

ART OF UNITY, retraces the history of several murals, including Interstruct’s “Love Seeks Unity,” ArtReach’s “Art Grows Here,” and CREW Orlando’s stunning seven-story “Still I Rise” mural, in Parramore. The iconic “Love Seeks Unity” mural stands as the genesis of The Desire Foundation Inc, a local nonprofit established shortly after the mural's completion. This mural was the catalyst for the foundation which serves more than 3,500 people in the Parramore community, bringing hope and empowerment to those in need. Unfortunately that landmark had to be decommissioned in 2021 due to building construction, but is now brought back to life with 3D animation and voice over through Snap!’s CITY UNSEEN Augmented Reality public [AR[t project.  

The Art Grows Here mural, located on the Arlington Arts building was envisioned by artist Maureen Hudas, teaming up with emerging artists, Delia Miller, Sabrina Dessalines, and local youth from the community. Lastly, the CREW mural honors the Unsung Heroes who provided their services to the Parramore community during segregation, and conveys the message of Parramore “rising up” against all odds.  

Gallery 1: Orlando artists Maureen Hudas, Delia Miller, Dawrby, and Sabrina Dessalines will create a live 20 ft x 8 ft mural inside Gallery 1. The Love Seeks Unity mural, with an Augmented Reality component will also be on display, and auctioned that night. The opening night event will benefit the Jennifer Desire Foundation, whose mission is to provide resources to underprivileged communities.

Gallery 2: The history of the other two murals will be displayed in Gallery 2, illustrating their impact on the local community of Parramore. 

Gallery 3: An exhibition with Kenya born artist Njeri Kinuthia will be showcased in Gallery 3.
