To keep costs down, we use Givebutter as our donation platform. When completing your donation, you may see a heart with a suggested tip to Givebutter. That tip may be set at 15%, but you can change it to any amount you choose, including $0.

The Givebutter tip is separate from your donation to Samson Society. We want to make this clear so there is no confusion if your total payment is higher than the amount you intended to give.

How to Avoid Optional Charges When Donating

When completing your donation, you may also be given the option to cover the processing fee. If you do not want to cover that fee, click “Change” next to the processing fee and uncheck “I want to cover fees.”

Next, click the down arrow beneath the 15% Givebutter tip, select “Other,” and enter $0 as your tip amount.

Doing both of these will keep your total payment at the donation amount you originally intended.

Why Does Givebutter Ask for a Tip?

Givebutter uses optional donor tips to help provide its fundraising platform without charging Samson Society platform or processing fees. If you would like to leave a tip to support Givebutter, you are absolutely welcome to do so. If you would rather keep your total payment at only the amount you intended to donate, simply follow the steps above.
