Judith Ann Zimomra Scholarships

Scholarships Awarded to Dependents of Sanibel City Employees

The scholarship program was the vision of then Sanibel City Manager Judie Zimomra, who brought the program to life when so many citizens expressed their desire to acknowledge and thank City employees for their tireless efforts to return residents quickly and safely to their homes and businesses and restoring the Sanibel community from the devastation caused by Hurricane Charley. In 2021, Sanibel City Council renamed the scholarship to the “Judith Ann Zimomra Scholarship” in honor of Ms. Zimomra after her retirement from the City after 20 years of faithful and dedicated service as City Manager.

This year, there are multiple sources contributing to the City’s Employee Dependent Scholarship Program; The Charitable Foundation of the Islands’, the endowment administered by the Collaboratory, other civic organizations as well as proceeds from various City vending machines.
