Do you have a passion for animal welfare and nature? Well you can have a positive impact on both animals and nature conservation by participating in our event! B&B animal sanctuary has installed 140 new fence posts that are over 6 feet high. We discovered this would be an excellent place for birdhouses. Swallows, or “aerial insectivores”, are great birds to have at the sanctuary as a natural alternative to pesticides. They have an excellent appetite for flies. They have been on the decline in NH since the 1950's and one of the reasons is habitat loss. By providing bird houses, we give them homes and hope to draw some into the sanctuary. Here is how it works: Looking for something to do on cold and stormy days? Look no further! When registering, you can decide if you want to join us for a fun in-person day or if you want to paint your birdhouse on your own time. You can involve your family and friends in the process. The birdhouse need to be returned to B&B by March 3, 2024 and will remain on the property for it's lifetime! Therefore this is a special one-time event because your birdhouse will continue to bring joy to the birds year after year. If you are local, you can even visit your birdhouse in person at the sanctuary. If you want to help, but would not like to paint a birdhouse, you can donate a birdhouse. Any birdhouses donated will be given to the Wilmot Learning Center for their kids to paint as a fun arts and crafts project!

What are we fundraising for?

We are a new farm animal sanctuary since May 2023 and have been building on our sustainability. We aim to make the lives of our sanctuary herd fantastic. We are committed to being a sustainable sanctuary that provides excellent care to the animals that call B&B home. With this commitment, we aim to have their home environment meet their needs. Marge the yak and Maxime the cow were both alone and without a friend, but united at B&B in Fall 2023. Their pasture and fencing are brand new and we wanted to give them some time living in it to see how it works for them. They moved in and have been living there for 4 months, which has allowed us to see which areas need improvement. We found that their pasture needs better mud control for their frequently traveled areas. This fundraiser will help us add sand and stone for happy hooves. They are also in need of water/electricity hookups and a new larger shelter. Maxime the cow is 2000 lbs (!) and she feels her current shelter is too snug. It is a large shelter but Maxime likely has never been enclosed in a shelter before. Therefore we want to add a more open shelter where she feels comfortable. We want to make all of this happen in 2024! By supporting this event, you are supporting Marge and Maxime's comfort!
