When rhino calves lose their mothers to poaching, they lose their security, guidance, and future. That’s why Global Conservation Force (GCF) partnered with the Zululand Rhino Orphanage and Zululand Conservation Trust—to provide not only sanctuary and care, but a pathway back to the wild.
This powerful collaboration delivers full-circle impact: emergency response, long-term care, anti-poaching defense, and education. Together, we are giving orphaned rhinos—and their ecosystems—a fighting chance.
Your support drives:
Orphaned Rhino Rehabilitation: At the Zululand Rhino Orphanage, calves affected by poaching are treated with specialized medical care, emotional rehabilitation, and round-the-clock protection. GCF helps fund and support this work to ensure each orphaned rhino has the opportunity to heal and thrive.
Rewilding & Reintegration: Orphaned rhinos are slowly and safely prepared for life in the wild again, a process that can take years and requires secure habitat, skilled caregivers, and constant protection—supported through our combined partnership with Zululand Conservation Trust.
Ranger Training, Equipment & Protection: GCF supports field rangers across the Manyoni Private Game Reserve region with anti-poaching training, essential gear, and resources to protect both wildlife and the rhino orphanage facility. This includes ongoing training for local personnel in field tactics, technology use, and crisis response.
Founding the Manyoni K9 Unit: In 2020, GCF founded and launched the K9 Unit in partnership with Zululand Conservation Trust, based at Manyoni Private Game Reserve. This elite anti-poaching unit began with the deployment of GCF-trained working dogs K9 Thor and K9 Rolo, who continue to play an integral role in tracking poachers, detecting wildlife contraband, and safeguarding the reserve’s wildlife.
Education & Community Outreach: With our partners, we promote conservation awareness across Zululand through school visits, outreach programs, and guided conservation education. These efforts inspire the next generation to protect their natural heritage and understand the value of rhinos in the ecosystem.
This partnership is a model of integrated conservation—connecting protection, care, research, education, and tactical response. With your support, we are not only saving individual rhinos, but reinforcing the entire system that protects them.
