I'm Martin and I'm pleased to announce that I'll be fundraising for Scleroderma United this year as one of its interns. Scleroderma United is a non-for-profit organisation that seeks to advance research and education surrounding scleroderma, an autoimmune disease characterised by a variety of connective tissue-related symptoms.
I'm fundraising today largely for two key reasons! One, as an intern of Scleroderma United, fundraising is one of the valuable skills that we'll be learning to develop during the course of our internship. Secondly - and I believe that this is most important to me - personal fundraising is something I've never done before in my life. As a leader and as a volunteer, I am deeply passionate in giving back to the communities I care about and to people from more disadvantaged backgrounds.
Through this fundraising initiative, I hope I'll be able to make a tangible and direct positive impact on people with scleroderma, and I hope I'll be able to utilise these skills for future fundraising campaigns!
