I am fundraising for San Diego Black Pride (SDBP) because of what the organization means to the community, because of what it means to me. SDBP works tirelessly and round the clock to give the Black queer community of San Diego what they deserve: the very best. I have had the pleasure of engaging with this community through the lens of a volunteer, of a complete stranger, and of a board member which gives me a thorough look at all the work, intention, commitment, and care that goes into the planning and execution of community events that we all know and love, like the Kiki Balls, Black Pride, scholarship awarding, emergency care funds, etc. Without fundraising, SDBP would not be able to do even half the important work that they need to do, that benefits community, that breathes life into folks.
