With only 3 days to live, Honor, the Golden Retriever, is the ultimate in paying it forward. 

Because she was suffering from heart worms and had no adoption prospects, the shelter in Magnolia, Texas that had picked her up, scheduled her to be euthanized in three days. It seemed the world had given up on Honor.

SDI recognized something special in this beautiful creature. We adopted her, despite the high cost of treating her for heart worms. A year later, Purina and Dog Fancy magazine named Honor “Hero Dog of the Year” for saving her disabled partner’s life.
