For over 50 years, The Seattle Medium newspaper has served our community by keeping them informed on issues and events that affect and enhance the quality of life of the African American, underserved, minority and other disenfranchised communities in the Pacific Northwest. However, this legacy of service is now in jeopardy due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 coronavirus is the worst economic and health pandemic to hit the world in modern history. It has brought serious distress to local economies, and The Seattle Medium newspaper is no exception. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have lost a significant amount of revenue as advertisers have cancelled ad buys, which is the economic lifeblood of newspapers.

As an essential business, we are continuing to provide important news and information, both online and in our print edition, during this unprecedented crisis. However, in the face of these new economic challenges, it is clear that The Seattle Medium newspaper must fight for its own survival. We have applied for numerous grants and financial resources offered by the City of Seattle, King County, the State of Washington and other private and non-profit funding sources to no avail. That is why we are turning to our loyal readers, partners and our community for your support in order for us to continue providing our community with news and information that might otherwise go unreported.

We are asking that you consider, if possible, providing a donation in any amount so that we can continue this critical work on behalf of the community that we serve. No amount is too small. Contributions may be TAX-DEDUCTIBLE, and will help pay for printing and distribution costs during COVID-19, resources to cover the impact that the virus is having on our community, and allow us to utilize our media resources to provide promotional campaigns to other local, community-based businesses in order to help them keep their doors open during and after the pandemic is over.

The Seattle Medium - COVID-19 Local News Fund is a program administered by Local Media Foundation, tax ID #36‐4427750, a Section 501(c)(3) charitable trust affiliated with Local Media Association. LMF is raising funds for educational activities; specifically, to educate the public on COVID-19 issues. LMF is providing funds to this news organization and many others to support this important educational project. All money raised by this effort will go directly to support COVID-19 reporting, to make sure the public has essential facts on this important topic.
