Since 1980, SEDS has offered students nationwide unparalleled opportunities in space advocacy, engineering, and career development. From awarding scholarships to organizing the annual SpaceVision conference, SEDS equips students with the tools they need to excel in the space industry. Over the past five years, SEDS:

Hosted 2,000+ students, 350+ industry speakers, and 100+ space companies at the annual SpaceVision conference, the premier space conference hosted by students for students.
Provided over $50,000 in conference travel scholarships to 250+ students seeking to launch their space careers.
Sponsored over $125,000 in projects across 30+ universities, including:
1. Portland State Aerospace Society’s (PSAS) minTS, a small-scale rocket engine test driving the organization’s first successful launch of a liquid-fueled rocket. SEDS provided a grant which allowed the organization to purchase high power rocket kits, certifications, and a cryogenic dewar. Check out more about their recent project, OreSar Live, an open source community outreach program to connect middle and high school students to satellites.
2. Illinois Space Society’s (ISS) Stargazer, a student researched and developed (SRAD) two-stage separation rocket competing in a national rocketry competition. With SEDS funding for a rocket motor and miscellaneous parts, the organization re-designed and launched their rocket.
3. SEDS-UC San Diego successfully conducted a static fire of their LOX–alcohol dollar-per-foot liquid rocket engine at FAR. This milestone followed three previous attempts at FAR and several major improvements, including a cryogenic tank replacement, multiple upgrades to their data acquisition (DAQ) software, and a new iteration of the engine design. Following the test, the team will continue evaluating multiple engine variants on this rocket in preparation for the upcoming flight campaign, including a conventionally manufactured regeneratively cooled engine, all thanks to support by SEDS.
