Service Club Lenten Drive

The DeMatha Service Club is proud to launch a special fundraising campaign with a goal of raising $6,000 to support students in the barrio of Saisi, where access to education requires extraordinary courage and determination.

Each school day, nearly 50 elementary and high school students must cross a river just to attend class. During the rainy season, rising waters and strong currents make this journey even more dangerous. Despite these challenges, these students persevere because they believe in the power of education to transform their lives.

Our fundraiser will directly support three critical needs:

  • A bamboo raft with a protective canopy capable of safely transporting up to 20 students per crossing, ensuring a safer journey to and from school.

  • Construction of a kitchen and restroom facilities to improve sanitation, health, and daily living conditions at the school.

  • Essential school supplies to equip students with the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

The program also supports the students’ holistic development through daily gatherings at the Our Lady of Good Remedy Care and Catechetical Center, where they participate in catechesis, communal prayer, and share a meal together before returning home. These efforts nurture not only academic growth, but faith, character, and a strong sense of community.

The DeMatha Service Club believes that geography and poverty should never stand in the way of opportunity. By reaching our $6,000 goal, we can help provide safety, dignity, and hope to students who are working tirelessly for a better future.

We invite the DeMatha community to join us in making a lasting impact. Together, we can help ensure that the journey to education is safer—and that these students are supported both in and beyond the classroom.
