Beatrice's family's story: Please help us raise enough money for service dog for our sweet Beatrice. Beatrice and her twin sister Amelia were born at 35 weeks and were challenging from the start. They were both diagnosed with autism at the age of 2 and it’s been non-stop work since then. They spent their childhood in doctors’ offices and therapy sessions and the progress has been slow. Beatrice is much more affected by autism than her sister and she needs a service dog to keep her safe, help with meltdowns, and for companionship. Beatrice has zero danger awareness and despite numerous safety measures has eloped a few times. We cannot enjoy typical things like going to zoos, aquariums, stores or even restaurants because Beatrice’s needs are overwhelming and she could have a meltdown at any moment. Beatrice struggles with everyday things and often self-injuries because of frustration and lack of communication skills. We as a family have to adapt to her needs very quickly as things can go from 0 to 100 in a matter of seconds. We are implementing numerous measures to help our little girl and to have a service dog would be a huge help for our family. Unfortunately to train a service dog can cost anywhere from $20,000 to $40,000 and insurance does not cover any costs. Beatrice has been accepted by a wonderful organization called Merlin's Kids who will subsidize half of the cost given that we come up with the rest of funds. Thank you for reading and a huge thank you to everyone who donated!
