Jack's family's story: We call Jack Booboo, a nickname that came about during his time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. One of his many medical problems was that his blood was too thick to draw conventionally. Performing the numerous blood tests required constantly pricking and squeezing his precious heels for blood. This necessary evil left his tiny feet looking bruised, swollen and scabby. It broke my heart and I would kiss his heels to make his boo boos feel better. I said Booboo so often that the name stuck with his siblings. Unfortunately, there are some issues limiting his life that we’re incapable of solving on our own. Jack is a curious boy and will get himself in trouble while we’re still asleep. We have a difficult time keeping him from leaving the house, he outsmarts all of our interventions. We used to be a very active family and would like to do more things with him but it just isn’t safe. His communication skills are so minimal that it causes him to act out in frustration. Balance and muscle strength are also a significant problem. Having a tether trained service dog could help him manage stairs more independently. Since his formative years were spent being poked and prodded by strangers, Booboo has extreme anxiety with Dr. appointments. A fur buddy would help him be more cooperative and relaxed. We only want the absolute best for him and could use a four-legged angel to help him live more fully. We know that a skilled service dog would be transformative for Little Jack. A sturdy canine who keeps him safe while navigating this wonderful life we’re crafting for him. We are not listening to the naysayers and expect our little Booboo to continue to amaze us.
