Help Nakiyah get a Service Dog to support her through Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome
Nakiyah (Munchie) has faced her challenges medically and is a trooper in handling it. She has had multiple surgeries to help fix or maintain her health issues. About 4-5 years ago Nakiyah became extremely ill and was diagnosed with a rare disease called Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome also known as CVS. CVS is a disorder that causes recurrent episodes of nausea, vomiting, extreme pain, tiredness (lethargy), abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, sensitivity to light, headache, retching and gagging; there is no cure for CVS. Medication does not stop an event from occurring, but it can help stop the throwing up. The Neurologist treating Nakiyah has suggested that we look into getting her a service dog. The purpose of the service dog is to help detect a change in her body so that she/we can prepare her for the coming event. The dog will help Nakiyah during and after events to help her recover more quickly and completely.
