We restored ceremony to Huhuunga.
Now we build the home that will carry Tongva culture forward for seven generations.

Huhuunga, “Place of the Bears,” is a living relationship between land, people, and responsibility. Since its return to Tongva stewardship in 2022, the Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa Conservancy has cared for the land, removed decades of damage, and welcomed community back through ceremony at both the Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice.

As we look ahead, 2026 will be a year of active planning, preparation, and community-building to support the future restoration of the main house at Huhuunga into a cultural and administrative home. Ceremony will continue to take place outdoors on the land. The home will support the people doing this work, including staff, youth, elders, and community members.
