March 4, 1994 – February 21, 2021

Candace lived her life with a heart wide open. She had a deep compassion for people who were struggling — those who were homeless, hurting, or battling addiction. On her lunch breaks at Tropicana, she would walk the boardwalk and offer food, money, and kindness to those she met. She never hesitated to help someone who needed love, dignity, or a gentle moment of hope.

Candace volunteered alongside her mother at Sister Jean’s Kitchen for Thanksgiving meals, and she often helped Angels in Motion by preparing flyers and resource list for the blessing bags. She loved being part of something that lifted others up.

She endured profound heartbreak when she lost the love of her life, Joshua Zeuner, to fentanyl. That loss changed her, but it never dimmed her generosity. Candace gave to family, friends, and strangers without hesitation — paying it forward at checkout lines, surprising loved ones with thoughtful gifts, and always noticing who needed a hand.

She adored her rescue dogs, Harold and Sella, and ensured they were cared for with endless love. She was loyal, thoughtful, and giving in ways big and small. Her favorite flower was the sunflower — a symbol of warmth, resilience, and light.

Today, in her memory, we are honored to launch the Candace Mazza Recovery Housing Scholarship Fund.

This fund will provide financial support for individuals transitioning from treatment into safe, stable recovery housing — offering them the chance to rebuild, heal, and find hope, just as Candace would have wanted.

Candace spent her life helping others. Through this scholarship, her compassion will continue to touch lives and change futures.
