Like all great things, Shades Of Orange started as a casual conversation among friends in a bar after a rehearsal. The soon-to-be founding members lemented the constraints put on traditional theatre: the need for hard to come by things like "good space" and "quiet audiences" and "time." They comisserated about how uncomfortable it can be to sit still and quiet in a theatre for 2 hours; how hard it is to make Good Art when you are tied up in logistical nightmares. They imagined a world where theatrical artists could simply... make their art, for audiences that could simply... enjoy it.
And then they stopped complaining and decided to do something about it.
And so, Shades of Orange was born (don't ask about the name - we won't tell). In April of 2023, we were officially registered as a Non-profit and in November 2023, we celebrated 1 year of 19 Chairs, our entirely unique monthly reading series. Our 2023 Summer production of "As You Like It: as you like it" was featured on WNDU and WSBT and performed to sold out audiences.
