Hello everyone, my name is Eduardo and I invite you all to help me raise funds for Valley Children’s Healthcare Foundation.

The mission of Valley Children's Healthcare is to provide high-quality, comprehensive healthcare services to children, regardless of their ability to pay, and to continuously improve the health and well-being of children.

This fundraiser means so much to me because I was one of those children. When I was 14 years old I started having several agonizing symptoms: an on-going headache, dizziness, loss of vision and sensation loss in my limbs. That was only the beginning. When my Mom took me to see my pediatrician he quickly suggested I immediately go to Valley Children’s Hospital in Madera, California. Due to the lack of quality specialized healthcare in the area my doctor knew that if I did not go to the Valley Children’s hospital, I would likely not be here today.

At Valley Children’s Hospital I was diagnosed with viral encephalitis, swelling of the brain, which led to acute cerebellar ataxia, damage to the cerebellum, the part of your brain linked to balance, coordination, motor skills, depth perception, and more. I received high-quality specialized care for weeks until I was stable. Not only did the Valley Children’s hospital save my life, they also helped offset the financial burden on my family with financial assistance. I am so incredibly grateful to the Valley Children’s Healthcare Foundation, the doctors, nurses, and staff. So for that reason, I am raising funds to give back to the Valley Children’s Healthcare foundation so that they can continue to help children and families in need.

To raise funds, I will be cutting and donating my hair to Locks of Love, a non-profit organization that makes wigs for kids. For every donation goal that is reached there is a corresponding amount of hair I will be cutting off.

Donations up to $1,000 will correspond to the minimum donation length of 10 inches of hair cut.

If donations reach $5,000 I will cut off the length of my hair from a ponytail of approximately 28 inches.

Finally, if donations reach $10,000 I will be cutting off all my hair and shaving my head in solidarity with all those who have lost their hair as a result of battling their illness.
