In Loving Memory of Sheila Baker

November 4, 1941 – January 23, 2026

On January 23, 2026, our beloved mother, Sheila (Reynolds) Baker, passed away at the age of 84. Sheila’s laugh and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone she met, and her life was defined by kindness, faith, and a deep love for others.

At the request of her children, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheila’s memory to Tara’s Chance, a nonprofit equine therapy center serving children and individuals with disabilities.

Tara’s Chance was founded by Sheila’s niece, Cindy (Reynolds) Howells, who continues to serve as the organization’s Program Director. A gift made in Sheila’s memory directly supports life-changing therapy for children, helping them build strength, confidence, and independence through the healing connection between horse and rider.

Sheila was deeply proud of her Upstate New York roots and carried that pride with her throughout her life. During her years in California, she became a devoted fan of the California Angels while raising her three children. Later, her family was transferred to the Poplar Grove, Illinois area, where she lived for more than five decades.

Sheila dedicated her professional life to caring for others, working for doctors and hospitals over many years and forming countless lifelong friendships along the way. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness, faith, and generosity defined her life. Her family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers, and support shared during this time.
