Many low-income families hope they will some day live in a neighborhood, a supportive community of residents with common goals. Unfortunately, many people view affordable housing as something other than a highly desirable neighborhood! Petersen Place is the first affordable housing community of its kind in Idaho. We designed Petersen Place to give affordable housing improved curb appeal. It's the best of both worlds for many families facing housing insecurity. Petersen Place offers equity building and includes home and yard maintenance in the resident fees. Residents have access to the supportive services they need, and the neighborhood remains affordable, well-maintained, and full of opportunities for personal growth.

Together, we can create this neighborhood for over 100 families experiencing housing insecurity in the Idaho Falls area. Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls has already secured an 11.5-acre piece of land. We have a name: Petersen Place, Habitat for Humanity's Community of Hope, named after the family who allowed us to build our community on their family's farm. We even have the funding to start putting in the roads and infrastructure. What this community needs to come alive is a heart!

We believe that 'heart' is a community center! We have the building, a grand old Craftsman-style farmhouse with solid bones and a homey feeling. You can help us turn it into a gathering place, a place of learning, and much-needed office space for Habitat for Humanity Idaho Falls by donating directly to our Community Center Fund! We will use this fund to finish the reconstruction of the community center and infuse Petersen Place with life.

Our most immediate need before winter is a new Petersen Place Community Center roof. The cost is $15,000. You can help shield our community center from the elements by becoming one of 200 donors donating $75 each. Of course, all donations of any amount are welcome and will help our fund grow!
