We’re committed to providing safe shelter, rehabilitation, and opportunity for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) in Kenya.
In the last 12 months, we’ve been able to house, heal, and empower 12 women and their 13 children from life-threatening abuse. Together, that means we …
-
Coordinated 12 family rescues from all around Kenya. 🛟
-
Facilitated 75+ physical and mental health assessments. 🏥
-
Safely sheltered and educated 25 young lives for 3+ months. 🏠
-
Provided 12 “graduation packages” at reintegration (i.e. 3 months rent, furnishings and supplies, food, job support & outpatient counseling). 👩🏾🎓
We also …
- Educated and empowered 200+ at-risk women and girls with “dignity kits” (i.e. donations of reusable pads, soap, and other personal hygiene products). 💃🏻
-
Installed our “baraza jumuiya” (community safe space & art installation) signboard to raise awareness and promote community engagement. 🗣️
-
Informed and inspired 400+ local stakeholders (i.e. public health officials, community health professionals, police officers, village elders) with current GBV statistics, resources, and intervention suggestions. 👩🏽🏫
-
Hosted 18 loyal Sikhona supporters from America to share our work and impact in-person. 🫱🏼🫲🏾
But, we need funds to continue our work next year. Recurring donations are strongly preferred, though any contribution is greatly appreciated!
Thank you for believing in our mission. Together, we are creating a safe and more equitable future for all women!
Asante sana!
