Skip a Treat, Help Elsa’s Heart Beat
Elsa didn’t have an easy start.
For years she lived as a breeding dog — her teeth worn down from chewing on the bars, her body exhausted from litter after litter. When she came into Pacific Pug Rescue, we were determined to give her the second chance she deserved. We spayed her, repaired her damaged teeth but Elsa has a very low erratic heart beat and would sometimes pass out.
A cardiologist diagnosed Elsa with Sick Sinus Syndrome — a condition that causes her heart to beat irregularly, sometimes so slowly that she passes out. We tried medication first, hoping it would be enough. It wasn’t.
The only real solution — the one that gives Elsa a normal, full life — is a pacemaker.
We know what you might be thinking, because we thought it too: a pacemaker for a dog? But we did our research. This procedure is safe, well-established, and genuinely life-changing for dogs like Elsa. With a pacemaker, she won’t pass out. She won’t struggle. She’ll just… live. Play. Nap in a sunny spot. Do all the things a dog should get to do. Without it, Elsa is in danger of her heart stopping at any time.
The cost is $8,000. For a rescue operating on donations and love, that’s a mountain.
You can help Elsa by choosing something to skip. Maybe it’s your morning coffee. Maybe it’s Friday night takeout. Maybe it’s that random online purchase you didn’t really need. Whatever your “skip” looks like, send that money to Elsa instead! One small thing from a lot of people can give this girl the heartbeat she deserves.❤️
