Four Counties. Two Cities. A Stronger Hunger Relief Network.

SML Gives Inc. serves neighbors in Franklin, Bedford, Pittsylvania, and Henry Counties, and the cities of Danville and Martinsville. Our model strengthens existing hunger relief organizations, helps food reach homebound households, and adds direct support where access is limited.

Through our Partner Pantry Program, we provide bulk pantry staples at no cost to food pantries, missions, and soup kitchens, helping them preserve resources for other pressing community needs. In the past six months, we supplied 12 partner organizations with 38 pallets of food, which our distribution partners further shared with an additional 50 agencies.

Our Food Delivery Program helps partners reach homebound neighbors in Bedford, Franklin, and Pittsylvania Counties. Partner agencies vet households and prepare food boxes; SML Gives delivers them. This collaboration reaches seniors, adults with disabilities, veterans, and families whose transportation barriers prevent them from accessing traditional pantries.

Many neighbors we serve live below the federal poverty threshold for their household. Many receive public assistance but still struggle to afford food and other essentials. Food assistance is available regardless of income. Crisis Stabilization Financial Aid requires verified income and residency, uses an eligibility limit of 250% of federal poverty guidelines, and is paid directly to vendors. Our Appliance Assistance Program also connects households with essential appliances through direct assistance and partner organizations.

The upcoming SML GIVES SOUTHLAKE FOOD PANTRY in Glade Hill will welcome neighbors from throughout our service area while improving access for rural Franklin County communities. The facility will combine an in-person pantry, regional distribution warehouse, crisis stabilization offices, classrooms, and communal meeting space. A holiday-season soft launch is targeted for 2026, with an official opening planned for late January 2027.

No single organization can meet the region’s needs alone. SML Gives helps the existing network reach further while giving neighbors another place to turn.
