The Crisis No One Talks About

Across rural Uganda, children are suffering from a devastating and preventable condition.

They’re called jiggers. Tiny parasites that burrow into bare feet, multiply, and feed on blood. We’ve treated children with hundreds, even thousands, embedded in their skin.

The result is heartbreaking:

Intense pain with every step
Swelling, infection, and open wounds
Loss of mobility, joy, and education
Deep shame and isolation

Some children are told they are cursed. Many are hidden away. But we know the truth. These children are not forgotten. They are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Hope Begins with Healing

Sole Hope meets children where they are. In villages, we wash feet, remove jiggers, and speak life over kids who have only known pain.

For the most severe cases, we bring them to The Hope Center, where children receive:

Medical care and jigger removal
Shoes made by local artisans
Nourishing meals
Emotional support and spiritual care
Dignity, community, and a place to rest

But even after jiggers are removed, the risk continues.

Children often walk miles home on dusty roads, with feet still raw and healing. Wounds are exposed. Reinfestation is a real threat.
