Soledad turns 16 years old today!

Wind River Grace's "Soledad" has worked alongside wildlife professionals, educators, and conservation practitioners as a Karelian Bear Dog Wildlife K-9 since she was less than one year of age. A decade and a half later, Sole has worked throughout North America with all 3 species of bear: black bears, grizzly bears, and polar bears.

To many of us, Soledad is more than a working dog—she is a conservation icon. Through countless demonstrations, presentations, training events, and Bear Shepherding actions, she has helped inspire people around world while serving as an ambassador for bear species, Karelian Bear Dogs, and other breeds of dog working in the field of wildlife conservation.

Now retired, Soledad spends her days enjoying the quieter side of life. As a senior dog, she is facing some of the health challenges that come with age and requires a little more veterinary care, monitoring, and support these days. But her legacy continues through the work of the Wind River Bear Institute and the Wildlife K-9 dogs following in her paw prints.
