Sons of Sophistication, Inc. 's (SOS) mission is to empower, validate, and nurture black and brown adolescent boys through a targeted values-based curriculum and intentional mentorship to promote equity within the Juvenile Justice system. Our goal is to foster an inspiring environment, where black and brown men intentionally mentor black and brown boys while pushing themselves and each other to defy stereotypes and break boundaries. We offer a three-tier mentoring model, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth. With the use of near peer mentors, we introduce new images, possibilities, and skills our mentees can use through our interactive workshops which align with the organization's core values. We envision a world in which black and brown boys are persistent, self-aware leaders with the authority to leave a positive longstanding footprint amongst society.

Our program meets weekly in the community to facilitate a variety of different workshops such as our value-based curriculum workshops, life skills workshops, and career/college readiness workshops. Our seven core values, which provide the foundation of our programming include: Visionary Goal Setting; Self-Determination; Presentation; Accountability; Positive Emotion Expression; Integrity; Respect for Women We mentor intentionally, ensuring we take time to fully understand our mentee’s purpose. We create space for their individual success while aiding them in their push through adversity. We accomplish this while having a deliberate focus on celebrating authenticity and having a mentee first model. We aim to provide all students with an educationally challenging, yet fun, experience by instilling the program's core values and connecting them with what they may need to succeed.

We believe that every young man deserves to be a part of a village that is specifically designed to help them become the best version of themselves.
