Science on Tap-Flathead is an informal community gathering to discuss science around the lake, region, world… and sometimes beyond. We invite local scientists and researchers in our community to discuss and present their work and results in ways that are easy to understand and light on data and graphs.

Science on Tap-Flathead is a fun, family-friendly event in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Bring your curiosity and enjoy yourself!

About the Flathead Lake Biological Station

The Flathead Lake Biological Station (FLBS) is a Center of Excellence and administrative unit within the University of Montana system. We are an ecological research and education center located on Flathead Lake in the Rocky Mountains near Glacier National Park. For over 100 years, we have conducted college courses, graduate programs, and research focused on the Crown of the Continent ecosystem.

Students and researchers from around the world continue to come to FLBS to learn about ecology and limnology from experts in the field. We conduct year-round novel research to help people live in a healthy, sustainable environment and help policy-makers make informed decisions.

Our activities help Flathead Lake remain the jewel of Northwest Montana now and for future generations.

The FLBS Mission is to serve the Flathead Lake region, the state of Montana, the nation, and the world by advancing a cutting-edge research, monitoring, education & outreach platform for limnology, ecology, and environmental science at Flathead Lake.

About the Lake County Conservation District

Montana’s Lake County Conservation District (LCCD) is responsible for the soil and water conservation work within the Lake County boundaries.

History of Conservation Districts

Lake County Conservation District (LCCD) is one of 58 conservation districts in the state of Montana. The Montana Legislature created conservation districts in 1939 to help citizens conserve their soil, water, and other renewable natural resources. The Lake County Conservation District was established in 1945.

Conservation districts work closely with the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation (DNRC), and the US Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) when carrying out their duties.

Our Mission

Lake County Conservation District provides technical assistance, financial assistance, and education in order to create a sustainable, productive, healthy environment for the Lake County community.
