At Southpoint Access, we believe in the power of local journalism to illuminate vital issues and drive positive change in our community. To that end, we're launching a fundraising campaign to support the production of in-depth content focused on three critical areas: K-12 education and outcomes, development and environmental impacts, and affordable housing.

Our mission is to bring these stories to life through the dedication of two freelance reporters, a freelance photographer, and a freelance video editor. These professionals will focus on the challenges and triumphs within our community, providing insightful and engaging stories that resonate far beyond the borders of South Durham, N.C.

In K-12 education, we will explore how our schools are preparing students for future success, shining a light on both the achievements and the areas needing improvement. Our stories will delve into innovative programs, teacher and student experiences, and the impacts of policy decisions on our children's education.

The development and environmental impacts section will investigate the balance between growth and sustainability. As South Durham continues to evolve, we'll examine how development affects our environment, from deforestation to pollution, and highlight efforts to create a greener, more sustainable future.

Affordable housing is a pressing issue, and our coverage will focus on the ongoing efforts to provide safe, affordable homes for all residents. We will report on local initiatives, the effectiveness of federal grants, and the personal stories of those striving to find affordable places to live.
