School’s Out Washington's pivotal role as an intermediary for the expanded learning field has clearer than ever with the pandemic. We had an ear to the ground about how programs, youth, and families were impacted and because we’ve built strong partnerships with policy makers and funders, we were able to quickly elevate those needs and provide a critical line of communication to providers, especially with rapidly changing the health regulations, funding, and policies.

Now, with the vital role of youth programs illuminated, School’s Out Washington is being called to a new level of leadership. Legislators, funders, and government agencies are asking and searching for comprehensive data to inform better policies and funding. Small and large youth development organizations are rallying for a unified voice and champion. Communities across the state are looking to SOWA to drive equitable funding, accessible professional learning, and supports to help them bring high quality, life-changing programs to young people.
