Bear was found collapsed on the side of the road—old, exhausted, and in pain—picked up by Animal Services in Stockton with euthanasia looming. When we met him, his arthritic legs could not support his big bony body; he couldn’t walk, couldn’t stand for long, and yet he greeted us with the softest eyes and the gentlest spirit. Bear is one of those dogs who asks for very little—just a warm place to rest, a kind hand, and the dignity to live out his days feeling safe and loved. With patient, compassionate care from our dedicated pet specialists, Bear is beginning to take slow, careful steps again. There’s a little bright spark returning to him and a wagging tail when you approach him—proof of what kindness and love can do.
