Your support of Coffee House Press and the important literary work we have carried forward for more than fifty years is especially important today. Throughout our history, we have championed bold, original voices and connected readers with books that inspire imagination, empathy, and meaningful conversation. None of this would be possible without the generosity of readers and supporters who believe independent publishing matters.

Today, nonprofit arts organizations face growing financial pressure. Foundation and corporate support for arts and culture has declined as many funders shift priorities toward other community needs. Individual giving has also become more difficult as families contend with rising living costs and economic uncertainty. At the same time, federal arts funding has become increasingly limited, and publishing and production expenses continue to rise sharply.

In response, Coffee House Press has taken careful steps to strengthen our long-term sustainability. We have reduced staffing, streamlined operations, strengthened financial planning, and temporarily reduced our annual publishing schedule from twelve books to eight. These changes have been difficult, but they are helping us preserve the quality and impact of our work.

Even now, our authors continue to receive national recognition, outstanding reviews, and important literary awards.
