A Spring of Hope Starts with You

Story

Every day in Los Angeles, more women and gender-diverse individuals fall into homelessness—many for the first time. At the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC), we know that safe, stable housing is the foundation for health and healing.

This spring, your support can help women like Susanne find stability and hope. After losing her mother and her home at 54, Susanne spent years moving between shelters, carrying grief and uncertainty. In 2012, she connected with a DWC Case Manager and moved into Permanent Supportive Housing. With access to healthcare and trauma-informed services, she began to heal.

Now in her 70s, Susanne is thriving—and mentoring others on their own path to recovery.

Your donation today helps women and gender-diverse individuals access housing, health services, and the long-term support they need to rebuild their lives. In honor of Women’s Health Awareness Week, give the gift of healing and help ensure no woman is left behind.

About DWC

The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.

DWC envisions a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Its mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, and advocacy. Founded in 1978, DWC was the first permanent supportive housing provider for women in the U.S.
