Cotton Branch Refuge Project is one of the few sanctuaries in the Southeast that has been doing this work for more than 22 years.

That longevity matters. It means the animals that call this place home are not passing through. They are aging here, growing older here, and depending on us here.

Right now, about 55% of our population is elderly, and roughly 65 animals are on ongoing medication, regular monitoring, or recurring care plans.

Since January 1, we have faced 20 animal medical situations. Some have been extreme. Some have been less severe. Some, despite every effort from our veterinary team and our staff, have resulted in heartbreaking loss. All of them have placed an enormous strain on our urgent medical fund.

This time of year is usually when we focus on infrastructure, repairs, and preparing for summer. Instead, we have had to pivot hard into medical care.

Now, we need to replenish that fund.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 by April 30 so we can be ready for the rest of the year. Emergency care can range from $1,500 to $5,000 per case, and our medical spending is already up 35% over this same time last year.

This fund helps make emergency visits, mobile vet care, specialty referrals, diagnostics, and urgent treatment possible.
