In the late 1970’s, a group of North Dakotans came together, united by the belief that all children deserve to feel cherished, nurtured, and empowered. Over the next couple decades, as awareness grew, so did the scope of their efforts. Now in our 45th year, Families Flourish ND formerly Prevent Child Abuse North Dakota has been working to sustain robust prevention work, numerous resources, professional training, community partnerships and relentless advocacy to build a brighter future where all North Dakota families have the support to flourish and every childhood is cherished. Through data-driven coaching, professional development, advocacy efforts and building public understanding, Families Flourish ND strives to build and share evidence-based solutions that work for all families. In partnership with state and local child advocates, Families Flourish ND is creating a state where families live in connected, supportive communities and as a result, all North Dakota children will live purposeful lives, filled with positive experiences and hope for the future.

educating families of newborns about the Period of Purple Crying program where you never shake a baby

providing education to caregivers about child sexual abuse prevention

providing education materials to families across the state around child development, single parenting, healthy development and stress

providing support for early childhood home visiting for first time parents through Western Plains, Standing Rock & Turtle Mountain

partnering with schools across the state to implement Handle with Care to create a more trauma informed system for children

champion positive policy changes for families at the local, state, tribal and national levels
