Dear Community Members and Solvang School Families,

You can help to support the art, music and drama programs at Solvang School by donating to our I LOVE THE ARTS campaign. Since 1996, our students have enjoyed one of the most comprehensive arts education programs in the Santa Ynez Valley. The SSEF Board is dedicated to ensuring this high level of instruction remains available, but we need our community's support to help fund these important programs.

ART PROGRAM:
Grades 2-5th - Art Class once per week
Grades 6-8th - Upper Campus Elective
Art Exhibits at School Concerts & Events
Art Exhibit at Solvang City Council Chambers

"In art class students explore drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, fiber arts and more. We use materials and techniques that resonate with a variety of cultural backgrounds so students gain a wide perspective of what art can be. We learn about artists from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, genders, and abilities, especially those that may be underrepresented in the arts, but a part of our community."

MUSIC PROGRAM:
Grades TK-5th - Music Class weekly
Grades 6-8th - Band Elective - Students choose from variety of string and percussion instruments to learn
Winter & Spring Concert Performances

"Solvang School is proud to offer music to students in grades TK-8th with a credentialed music teacher, who teaches rhythm, movement, and instrumental skills. Our music teacher emphasizes music appreciation, cultivates joy, and is actively expanding the Middle School Band. During School Performances, students danced Los Machetes and Scarf dances, sang in multiple languages, played instruments and shined on stage. The music program at Solvang School is poised to develop the next generation of musicians in the Santa Ynez Valley."

DRAMA PROGRAM:
Grades 6-8th - Upper Campus Elective
Spring Drama Production

"At Solvang School, students have the opportunity to develop their skills of acting, singing, and improv in the drama program. Many students even find a passion for prop and set design. Students perform creative fairy tales for the Lower Campus and put on a full musical production in the spring."
