2025 Square Renovation

Downtown Stamford is about to undergo a major makeover, and the community is invited to be a part of this historic renovation!
Recently, the City of Stamford was awarded a $350,000 grant to replace the sidewalks, gutters, and electrical infrastructure within the square. This grant is strictly designated for structural improvements, which would not include any landscaping or beautification to finish the project.

A group of business owners, along with the Development Corporation of Stamford and the Stamford Chamber of Commerce, have stepped up to take on the landscaping portion of the project, but they cannot do it alone.

To complete this vision, the group needs to raise $200,000. These funds will restore the historic decorative lighting, improve landscaping, upgrade water infrastructure, and care for the trees on the post office lawn and in the surrounding flower beds. It will also provide long-overdue updates to the war memorial, ensuring it remains a place of honor for generations to come.

This project isn’t just about beautification—it’s about investing in the future of Stamford, and creating a downtown that welcomes visitors, supports local businesses, and brings our community together. Every donation, big or small, will help bring this vision to life. Donors who give certain levels will also be honored through the project:
• Gifts of $5,000 or more will be honored with a permanent memorial placed on the lawn.
• Gifts of $1,000 or more will be recognized at a special ribbon-cutting ceremony upon completion.
• Gifts of $500 or more will be acknowledged on the City of Stamford website.
• Every donation will go directly toward making this project a reality.

For those interested in giving, donations can be made to the Community Foundation of Stamford account at First State Bank. Checks can also be made payable to the Community Foundation of Stamford and mailed to Jessica Vaughan at P.O. Box 7, Stamford, TX 79553, or dropped off with James Decker at SGDA Law Firm, 127 E. McHarg, on the north side of the square. For more information, contact Jessica Vaughan at 325-669-1511 or [email protected].
