Something extraordinary is happening in Staunton. Our band program has grown from 28 students to over 105 in just two years, nearly quadrupling in size. Our marching band alone has grown from 35 to 64 members. This kind of growth is a testament to the students, Director Jon Wilson, and a community that believes in the power of music.

But growth comes with a cost, and we've hit a wall.

Right now, 61 students depend on school-owned instruments just to participate. In total, 78 instruments are on loan- many of them dating back to the 1950s and 60s, repaired time and again to keep them playable. As Director Jon Wilson put it in a recent story in the Staunton News Leader, "We've pretty much given out what we own. We're just at capacity... I've told the kids, we could just stop growing or we could get equipment to meet the needs of the new folks coming in."

We are raising funds for the year ahead, and we need your help! Every dollar raised will go directly toward new instruments, equipment, and uniforms so that more students can participate in this life-changing program. Help us keep the music playing for every student who wants to join in. 🎶

How Your Donation Makes a Difference

$25 - Purchases supplies like tights, field paint, and batteries for bodypacks
$50 - Purchases flags, drum sticks, mallets, marching and guard shoes, and sound system cables
$100 - Purchases band uniforms and covers needed alterations
$300 - Band camp scholarship for 1 student (travel, room, and board)
$1,000 - Funds a trumpet, trombone, or flute
$3,000 - Funds a tuba or saxophone
$5,000+ - Helps fund major equipment needs or sound equipment

Our Promise to You

Every dollar donated will go directly to program expenses. We maintain complete transparency in our finances and will provide updates on how your contributions are used throughout the year. Donors will receive recognition on our website (unless you prefer to remain anonymous) and periodic updates on the band's achievements.
