Update: On March 18th we completed the purchase of different MotorCoach! This was a huge step on our journey, and is a testament to God’s faithful work. We are incredibly grateful for all of the support during this process and transition.

We paid cash and acquired a 2007 Monaco Dynasty in Montana. The coach is more than we could have dreamed of. With that being said, at this time we are leaving this fundraiser active. As many of you know, anytime when moving there are other related expenses - taxes, registration, furnishings, as well as some repairs/updates. There have been some contributions to come in after the purchase of the motorhome, all of which have been put toward the motorhome in these areas.

For over twenty years Stones Cry has been traveling the country as a family. We’ve been playing at churches, meeting people, and encouraging them in their faith in Jesus through music. As Joy and Josiah have grown up, certain things have changed, but the heart of what we do has stayed the same.

For just as long, we’ve traveled the country in our 38-foot 1996 Monaco Dynasty motorhome with over 300,000 miles, living in it full time as we travel to different churches and venues.

Our motorhome is a large part of what we do, providing lodging as well as transportation. Being able to live in a self-contained unit has been key in allowing us to visit the places we do – a lot of smaller churches that would otherwise be unable to have an outside group come in.

However, we are now at a point when our motorhome is showing its age. And it's road time is coming to an end.

We’re asking for your help to keep going. We are working to raise funds for a used, dependable motorhome/coach or tour bus. Help us continue to bless congregations throughout the United States.

What we do:

Stones Cry is a family worship team/band consisting of Joel and June Finnesgard, their daughter, Joy (17), and their son, Josiah (15). The ministry started 24 years ago with Joel playing the trumpet along with accompaniment tracks under the name Sound of the Trumpet. As Joy and Josiah grew, their interest in music became more apparent, and they began performing as a family (changing the name to Stones Cry). Today, they travel together sharing at different churches and venues throughout America. Joy and Josiah serve as lead vocalists, and all instrumentation is live. Their style is largely Contemporary Christian and Inspirational. In addition, they also have lyrics with video background that they have taken throughout their travels.

We live in the motorhome full-time (no house anywhere), with the ministry as our full-time employment. Our mailing address is in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We provide all of our own equipment and have an equipment trailer that we tow behind the motorhome. Joy and Josiah are homeschooled.

What’s wrong with the motorhome:

Mid-November, we discovered that the basement framing, housing the water and electrical systems, has rusted through in multiple places.

Is it fixable?

If it were only one small problem, yes. However, the situation is not small, and likely reaches further into the framing. It is not the only issue that needs to be addressed. The outside walls have significant delamination. The radiator, airbags, shocks, air conditioners, most hoses (hydraulic, inner cooler, coolant, fuel lines, etc.), and more, all need to be replaced. The list of other issues grows longer by the day. A rebuilding process simply isn’t feasible. It would be costly and would require an extended amount of time. The motorhome is livable as of now, but really should not be on the road. The motorhome is 28 years old with over 300,000 miles. The motorhome has treated us well, but it is time to retire it.

What we’re looking for:

Either a motorhome similar to what we have (Monaco Dynasty/Signature or equivalent, possibly between the years of 2006 to 2008) or a retiring tour bus/bus conversion.

Is borrowing an option?

While some people have chosen to go this route, and in the past we have also, we have decided to stay away from debt - present and future. We are personally debt-free. The ministry is debt-free as well. Times are constantly changing, and we will continue to do our best in protecting the future of the ministry. In addition, it allows us the freedom to operate the way we do, as we would be unable to serve in many of the situations we find ourselves in if our financial position were otherwise. We are confident in this choice.

The future of the ministry:

We know that this is a matter of importance for many. Our lead singers are getting older and reaching adulthood. Joy, who is currently a senior in high school, is planning to attend college in person, while being involved in the ministry on a part-time basis. Josiah, a high school sophomore, is planning to continue traveling and performing for as long as he possibly can, quite possibly far longer than Joel and June.

We know that change is always difficult, but also hard to predict. Joy and Josiah getting older isn’t the end by any means. The ministry started with Joel on the trumpet, before they were even born. When Joy and Josiah were born, people wondered if we would stop, and we didn’t. It turned into what it is now. Even though we have an anything-but-normal life, we are an ordinary family. As time moves on, things might look different, but for as long as we can, we won’t stop doing that to which we’ve been called.
