Every community needs a central hub, and The Strand Theatre Renovation project aims to provide just that for Kutztown and the surrounding region. The Strand has been a significant part of the community since its construction in 1908, serving as a venue for live entertainment, a gathering place, and a cinema. It was where people gathered to learn about what was happening in their neighborhood and the world around them. Such businesses are still vital to the fabric of our communities.

Breathing new life into The Strand Theatre provides direct and indirect value to the local community. Any funds donated to support the Strand project will help create jobs, provide educational opportunities for all ages, enhance the community, boost real estate values, and attract complementary businesses.

The Strand Theatre is currently opened with limited operation, and the surrounding community has been excited to see the marquee lit up again. However, to be fully operational, extensive renovation is required. The roof and HVAC system has been upgraded and paid for through the Pennsylvania LSA grant. Funds need to be raised to renovate both screening rooms and update the lobby, basement office, meeting room, and classrooms. The building has been brought up to code by upgrading the electrical system. The next phase will install a fire sprinkler system and ensuring it is ADA-compliant including new bathrooms.
