2025 Giving Tuesday-End of Year
r
Since 1880, when the land for Strieby Congregational Church was purchased, Strieby has been revered as a pillar in the community and surrounding areas. Founder Rev. Islay Walden was passionate about education and providing a space to cultivate one’s mind and spirit. It is through Rev. Walden’s vision that the Strieby Church was first constructed and continues to serve the community today.
Centuries later, we the descendants of the Strieby Congregational United Church of Christ founding families, strive to embody the values taught by our ancestors and preserve the Strieby Church grounds now recognized as a Cultural Heritage Site (2014) and a part of the Reconstruction-Era National Historic Network (2023). In addition, this past year, we have been fortunate to have partnered with University of North Carolina-Greensboro (UNCG) to help us learn more about our cemetery and to collect oral histories. Your generous support has brought us this far by faith. We are confident that your continued support will help keep Strieby striving and thriving for generations.
The Strieby Church grounds and building are well-cared-for but are aging. Most notably, our church air conditioner failed and had to be replaced. Air conditioning is a mecessity in our location during the summer months. In addition, our bathrooms and plumbing require remodeling to adequately accommodate visitors and be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
This Giving Tuesday, your generous financial donation will make a significant difference and will help us reach our goal of 5000 dollars.
