SCSNC was founded in June 2020 by the mother of a child with Hydrocephalus and Autism. After enduring a long road between knowing her son had challenges and him actually getting the help he needed, she resolved to use her degree in social work to advocate for change to make information about rights and resources freely accessible.

SCSNC was chartered as a nonprofit organization with the state of Tennessee in September 2020. and is a 501(c)3 nonprofit. SCSNC is run by a Board of Directors made up of volunteers. Our three main programs are Information Connections, School Connections, and Caregiver Connections.

Information Connections includes live events such as the Regional Special Needs Expo and the Autism Awareness & Acceptance Fair as well as the online and printed Local Resource Directory- a guide to all things disability in Sumner County.

School Connections includes school board candidate interviews and ongoing advocacy as well as the annual Special Education Team of the Year contest and party giveaway.

Caregiver Connections includes caregiver retreats for special needs parents.
