Hygiene is a basic need that many individuals and families impacted by homelessness or chronic disease may find difficult to meet. Nearly three in four (73%) low-income families have cut back on food in the past year in order to afford household goods. Of these, one in four (24%) report doing so each month.

50% of low-income families worry about meeting their children’s hygiene needs. It is hard to focus in school or on the job if you have to worry about choosing to eat or bath. Self esteem is affected and absenteeism rises on the job and in school.

We empower individuals by providing access to basic hygiene prpoducts. Hygiene kits containing soap/body wash, lotion, deodarant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, are provided to shelters and other service organizations serving at risk or low income populations. This allows agencies to allocate thier limited resoucres in other ways to help their families succeed.

Annually a finacial assistance award is granted to families who have transisitoned from homelessness into thier own home. Caseworkers completes an application on behalf of a client to recieve the award. Funds can be used to assist with rent, utilities, food, personal care, or transportation.
