2026 Spay/Neuter Campaign

HAPPENING NOW: Prevention Is The Only Way Out Of This, Help Us Stop Animal Suffering Before It Starts 🚨

Let’s have a real conversation for a minute. It’s easy to point fingers and argue about who or what is responsible for animal overpopulation, but at the end of the day, the truth is simple: if animals can reproduce, they will. One of the most important things we do at WTFRescue is making sure every animal in our care is spayed or neutered before they ever have the chance to add to this crisis. That single step saves lives long before they’re born — but it comes at a cost, and right now, we can’t move forward and save more lives without you.

When we’re able to use our low-cost clinic partners, $75 allows us to spay/neuter, vaccinate, and microchip a cat, and $100 does the same for a dog. That’s prevention at its most powerful. But rescue doesn’t always work on a convenient schedule. Clinics get backed up. Emergencies happen. Medical cases need extra monitoring and specialized care during surgery. When that happens, the cost instantly triples just for the spay or neuter alone, before we even add vaccines, microchips, or follow-up care. What starts as a $100 procedure can quickly become several hundred dollars per animal, and those costs add up fast when you’re trying to do the right thing every single time.

Looking ahead to 2026, we are determined to take this fight even further by launching a dedicated spay/neuter initiative for Duplin County, North Carolina. This is a county with zero low-cost spay and neuter options. Zero. The median household income is around $51,000 a year (less than $1,000 a week) yet families are expected to pay $400 to $800 per pet just to do the responsible thing. That barrier alone is enough to guarantee that the cycle of unwanted litters, suffering, and death continues unchecked.

We are asking for your help to make this initiative possible. Prevention is the only long-term solution to the heartbreak we see every day. Even spaying/neutering one animal can prevent thousands of future births over time. A single $75 donation can stop generations of kittens from being born into fear, neglect, and often a lonely death when no one finds them in time. This is how we change the story — not by blaming, but by acting. Please stand with us and help fund the solution.

Donate today to stop the cycle of overpopulation, of overcrowded shelters, and of suffering. Donate today or send essential wish list items to help us offset our costs and prevent the strife, hunger, and fear that exists when stray populations boom. Thank you.
