Support Athelas

For 50 years, Athelas has been dedicated to providing opportunities for growth, independence, and personal accomplishment to adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

Founded in 1976, Athelas delivers high-quality, person-centered services designed to empower individuals to live meaningful, connected lives in their communities. We support adults ages 21 and older with mild to severe Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities through comprehensive Day Programs, Employment Services (including customized and supported employment), Personal Supports, and Residential Services.

Our Day and Community-Based Programs focus on skills development, meaningful activities, community engagement, and employment opportunities. Personal Supports are tailored to each individual’s goals — promoting independence in daily living, personal care, budgeting, meal preparation, medical coordination, and active participation in community life.

Our Residential Programs provide supportive, community-integrated homes for individuals and small groups, with supervision and care based on individualized needs. Services include daily living assistance, health and medication monitoring, nursing oversight, behavioral and therapeutic supports, recreation, volunteerism, and opportunities such as Special Olympics participation. We also offer specialized programming for seniors who are retired from the workforce, focusing on wellness, social connection, and purposeful community engagement.

Athelas serves individuals without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex, or differing abilities. Every participant receives a comprehensive assessment to ensure services are thoughtfully designed around their strengths, goals, and support needs.

At our core, we believe every individual deserves the opportunity to achieve, contribute, and belong. With a highly trained and compassionate staff, Athelas continues to foster independence, dignity, and a positive quality of life — 50 years strong and still growing.
