About Grant Street Community
As an is a unincorporated neighborhood association, Grant Street is fiscally sponsored by the Durham Community Land Trustees, with BLK South serving as a core implementation partner. Grant Street Community is a group of neighbors in the Historic Hayti District of Durham working together to care for our neighborhood—past, present, and future.
For years, residents on this block have gathered regularly to build relationships, support one another, and take action on what matters most in our community. Today, that work continues through a shared vision for safety, beauty, preservation, and belonging.
Through monthly gatherings and neighborhood-led initiatives, we are:
Supporting long-time residents
Investing in community spaces like our park and garden
Providing care for neighbors in need
Preserving the stories and legacy of this historic Black neighborhood
Why Give
Your support helps us continue this work in tangible ways. Every contribution goes toward projects led by neighbors, for neighbors.
This includes:
Hygiene kits and care packages for unhoused neighbors
Meals and support for local students and families
Community events and gatherings
Neighborhood improvement projects (garden, park, beautification)
Building a small reserve fund for future needs and emergencies
A Community-Led Effort
This is not just a program—it’s a neighborhood coming together.
Whether you give once or choose to give monthly, you are joining a collective effort to care for Grant Street and ensure it remains a place where people can live, belong, and thrive.
