Every year, a teacher in a Title I school reaches into her own pocket.

She buys pencils. Construction paper. Books her students will actually want to read. She does it quietly, without asking for recognition, because the shelf is empty and the child is right there in front of her.

The World We Share exists to change that — and to do something more.

We are a California-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit working in Title I schools across Sacramento and beyond. We do two things, and we do them with intention:

We put books back on empty shelves. Each year, we partner with one school community for our signature program — sixth grade students illustrate an original children's book, written around themes of belonging and empowerment, then deliver it by hand to the third graders who will read it. Every copy sold restocks a Title I library that has gone without.

We support the teachers who show up anyway. Title I teachers spend an average of $500–$1,000 of their own money each year on classroom supplies. We fund what their schools won't — books, art materials, literacy tools — so they can stop paying out of pocket for other people's children.

Your donation does both.

$50 puts a new book in the hands of a child who has never seen themselves in a story. $100 restocks a classroom with the art supplies a teacher already bought herself last semester. $250 funds one teacher's full classroom supply budget for a semester. $500 helps stock a Title I library shelf that has been empty for years.

This is not a one-time event. This is sustained, deliberate presence in schools that have learned not to expect it.
