Love and Care: Funding the Movement's Safety Net

A Request for Support

The truth is i never imagined i would be writing this.
The plan was to send an end-of-year fundraising ask — to celebrate our accomplishments and the work ahead.

Instead, I am facing a sudden medical crisis that has interrupted everything and forced my body into stillness.

I did not plan for this.

I did not expect to wake up unable to move my arm.

I did not prepare for the temporary loss of work or the forced pause.

(For the full story of the crisis, the systemic toll on Black women's bodies, and why care must be liberation, you can read the full essay here: [Substack Link])

This is a temporary medical crisis — but it is real.

And it has reshaped my ability to work, earn, and sustain the organization’s daily operations.

So I must say something I never expected to write:

i need support.

Our total stabilization and capacity goal is $30,000.
This funding will ensure the work continues uninterrupted by transforming what has been, until now, a one-person operation into a supported team.

  • $15,000 will cover my full medical recovery and living expenses during this period of temporary disability.

  • The remaining $15,000 is a direct investment in hiring and compensating essential programmatic and administrative support for the next three months — allowing our community work to continue while i heal.

If you believe in this work — if it has touched you, strengthened you, aligned with your values, or served your community — i ask you to support us through this transition.

If you are able, please consider contributing:

i never planned for this.
i never imagined having to ask this way.
But i am learning — deeply and humbly — that love and care are things i must learn to receive.

Thank you for holding me.
Thank you for holding this movement.
Thank you for helping us move through this moment
with dignity, community, and care.
