More About The Hiding Place's Services:

Our Impact:
Established in 2021 and officially in operation in 2023, The Hiding Place was developed and founded by two females from the Upstate of SC, Breann Griffin Nicholson and Jennifer Looper. Breann and Jennifer created this program with the idea of providing community and care through the creation of safe spaces. Breann is a survivor and built The Hiding Place program curriculum based on the needs that she could not find in Pickens County when she fled abuse. Our team is highly invested in this mission because without The Hiding Place program, so many survivors would be without the vital aid needed to flee, leaving them stuck in the abuse and eventually death per statistical information. Over the past three full years of operating, The Hiding Place has taken over 1,000 hotline calls and has served over 800 survivors and their families. Though we are not defined by the numbers we have served, we do believe it is important to highlight this to understand the need for domestic violence aid and support.
When forming The Hiding Place, a quote from Ann Voscamp was consistently highlighted. It states “Safe places are formed when one can share their story without shame”. As The Hiding Place enters its 4th year of operations, this quote rings true and serves as a cornerstone within The Hiding Place program. Serving others, listening to others and providing safe spaces for others means allowing space for survivors to share their stories boldly, without fear of shame or judgement.
With that being said, the goal of The Hiding Place is to provide access to safe housing, trauma and crisis based counseling, community-based peer support, extensive resourcing and trauma-informed advocacy. Through The Hiding Place program, we provide an emergency hotline and text line for survivors to receive direct support and care from trained advocates. Through our services, the key component of community ties our programmatic structure together, leading survivors towards a healthy pathway of healing.

Your monetary donation is used to serve survivors of domestic violence as they begin their roads of healing.
