Urgent Care for Dylan & Meemo: A Hollow Moon Sanctuary Fundraiser

Our Story: Hollow Moon Sanctuary

Welcome to Hollow Moon Sanctuary, a lifelong dream turned reality. We are a small, vegan-run sanctuary dedicated to providing a loving, lifelong home for animals rescued from exploitation and neglect. Our mission is to give every animal that comes through our doors a life filled with peace, love, and the specialized care they deserve. We typically fund our sanctuary out of our own pockets, but today, we are reaching out to our community for help with two very special residents: Dylan and Meemo.

Two Urgent Surgeries, One Heartbreaking Need

We are urgently trying to raise $3,000 to cover critical surgeries for two of our most beloved sanctuary residents, Dylan the dog and Meemo the cat. Both are facing serious health crises that require immediate veterinary intervention.

Dylan’s Story: From Bait Dog to Beloved Companion

Dylan, a 10-year-old Chihuahua/Pit Bull terrier mix, is a survivor in every sense of the word. Rescued from a hoarding and dog fighting case in Hawaii, the scars on his face tell a story of a painful past, likely as a “bait dog.” When he first came to us, he was anxiety-ridden and terrified of humans.

Over the years, with patience, training, and unconditional love, Dylan has blossomed into the sweetest soul imaginable. He has overcome his trauma to become a trusting, loving companion. However, his past continues to affect his health. Due to severe dental abnormalities, he now has advanced dental disease and requires urgent surgery to remove multiple painful teeth. The estimated cost for his procedure is $1,200 - $1,500.

Meemo’s Story: The Angelic, Scarf-Like Cat

Meemo is a 7-year-old angelic soul who we officially adopted in 2024 after fostering her and her brother who already faced several health issues. But, nothing stops this girl. She is known for her affectionate nature, often climbing onto our shoulders to wrap around like a living scarf or snuggling so close it’s hard to get any work done. She and Dylan are the best of friends.

A few days ago, we discovered a fast-growing mass on her abdomen. An emergency vet visit and ultrasound were inconclusive, leaving us with a difficult choice: wait and see if it grows, or act now. Given the sudden appearance of the lump, we believe immediate surgery to remove and biopsy the mass is the only responsible option. The initial estimate for her surgery is up to $1,500. If the mass is found to be cancerous, she will require further follow-up care, the costs of which are still unknown.

A Breakdown of Our Goal

Dylan's dental surgery estimated cost: $1200 - $1450
Meemo's Mass removal and biopsy: $800 - $1520

Total Goal: $3000

We are exploring all options to reduce costs, including taking Meemo to a low-cost veterinary clinic in Providence. However, even with a potential discount, the financial burden is significant for our small sanctuary.

How You Can Help

Your donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward the cost of Dylan and Meemo’s life-changing surgeries. By contributing, you are not just funding a medical procedure; you are giving two deserving animals a future free from pain and a chance to continue living their happy lives at Hollow Moon Sanctuary.

Please, help us give Dylan and Meemo the second chance they so richly deserve.
