1 year of COVID, Help SVARA Thrive

In 2020, alongside a global pandemic, over 7,000 people connected and learned with SVARA, a 41% increase from the previous year. We’re dazzled by how you have shown up to the learning and for each other throughout this unprecedented year. 

Our bet midrash has been guided by the question of how we can best nurture and anchor this community - and this sentiment has been echoed back to us by so many of you. As one SVARA-nik shared, “Thank you all for stepping up during this pandemic. The daily beit midrash has given me an anchor to stabilize my sleep schedule and the motivation to keep planting seeds for a future that I can't imagine.”

This has been, and continues to be, a challenging spiritual and economic time. We haven’t emphasized asking for money, and instead have focused on developing new learning spaces and expanding access to our teachers and programs. 

Now, as we mark a year of this journey together, we are recommitting to our intentions to provide nurturing and anchoring learning offerings for you. And we’re inviting you to join us in ensuring that these spaces are here for everyone who needs them. 

Your support means that all queer and trans people have a Jewish home, that queer and trans educators, rabbis, and community leaders have the resources to grow and lead spaces of their own, that more people have access to liberatory queer-normative radically traditional Judaism.
